PROBLEMS WITH NAVITUS

Independent experts and commentators cover all issues.

Coal Mine
OVERVIEW OF NAVITUS OBJECTIONS.
OBJECTIONS TO THE NAVITUS POOLE BAY WIND FARM
Here we present all the well researched and written documents about the failings of NAVITUS as a wind farm project.
They draw on UK and international information.

Badly placed or badly designed Renewable Energy sources do huge damage to the environment and the ecologies on which they stand or work.

NAVITUS is the worst in the UK so far.

The badkground map shows the annual 13000 vessel crossings of the (pink) NAVITUS wind farm site. These are cruise ships, ferries, cargo ships, sailboats, yachts and super yachts, and pleasure craft.
The site stands north of the main English Channel shipping lanes, the busiest in the world.
This siting is absurdly dangerous.
NAVITUS should be disallowed on these grounds alone.

The Shipping Hazard map above applies equally well to the movement of millions of Birds, Bats, and Insects in and out of Britain from Africa and the Mediterranean.
The land area of the map is the prime route for immigrants, resting, nesting, and winter feeding species along the whole South Coast.
NAVITUS should be disallowed on these grounds alone.
The Formal Assessment process does not allow local people to object on grounds of costs or financial arrangements. However, the costs will eventualy be borne by the people of Dorset through their electricity bills. The output of NAVITUS will be around 350MW on average, well below the tool consumption of Dorset.
These objections are directed to MPs and the House of Lords, the only ones who can alter the way in which Energy decisions are made.

This map shows the zig-zag route of the onshore connection to the national Grid. It will be the width of an 8 lane highway!
This article compiles a list of over 30 objections to almost every aspect of the project, many of which are sufficient to disallow NAVITUS on their own.
Tourism to the area will be hit hard. The business and job losses will match the entire cost of the project. No other UK community faces such financial damage.
Many major costs of the project are hidden under separate budgets within DECC. Few citizens are aware of the existence or scale of these key parts of the planning.
This outstanding article by John Constable, delivered to the Scientific Alliance group in Scotland, shows how scientists, engineers, business bodies, and other experts are actually excluded by government from policy making and implementation.
The UK Energy policies are widely seen as a bureaucratic and political disaster over decades. These deeper questions need to be addressed.
The article is, of course, directed at politicians for reflection.
6. HOW TO IMPACT THE DECISION PROCESS
The only way to have a real impact on the decision process for the NAVITUS BAY WIND FARM is through MPs in the Houses of Parliament, Lords in the House of Lords, and MEPs in the European Parliament. All other avenues are blocked by legislation and the Assessment processes are in the hands of the developers and the Department of Energy & Climate Change. They exclude primary issues like the Costs and Benefits of the wind farm project and the hidden additional costs of Grids, grid meters, backup energy systems, and international linkages. We do address these.
